On March 13, 2005, our Puppet Village was officially opened with an open house. The day was filled with many activities specifically geared towards our children!
The day began with a wonderful Bible Class time and Worship service. After our Worship we enjoyed a lunch and Devotional for our K-4th Graders and their families. In all, 38 were present!
At 4:00 we had an open house for our new puppet village. The open house included introductions from the 17 residents of our puppet village and a song from the Pied Pipers from Freed-Hardeman University! The open house also included information about the Youth Ministry from "Ederd" Toland, Greg Henry and Scott Reese. The open house also included comments from Les Glenn, one of our wonderful Elders here a the Waverly church of Christ! The open house concluded with comments and a prayer from Jeff Keele, our Pulpit Minister here at the Waverly church of Christ. Refreshments were provided as well.
After our open house we had a dinner welcoming the Pied Pipers in our Enrichment Center, followed by a session of Pewpackers before Worship. After Worship, the Pied Pipers performed in the Enrichment Center. 158 were present for the performance! At the conclusion of the performance a special presentation was made by David Nowlin on behalf of the Eldership here in Waverly to Dr. Cliff Thompson, Director of the Pied Pipers. This presentation was a check to assist in their Mission Trip to Scotland to assist the work of Jon Galloway!
Puppet Village is an addition to the many wonderful resources here at the Waverly church of Christ. Our puppet village is to be used to teach the children about God and Jesus Christ. It is our hope and prayer that many wonderful memories and a foundation of faith will be made in part by our new puppet village. Above all, may God receive the glory.
Puppet village will be used for Pewpackers, which meets twice per month. Please be sure to click the Coming Activities link for the date of our next Pewpackers session. Puppet Village will also be used this summer for a special program and for our Vacation Bible School! Please be sure to visit Puppet Village at any opportunity that you have!
