Our Elders

 

The Waverly church of Christ Youth Ministry is blessed to be under the oversight of six Elders. These men Shepherd our young people and serve as a wonderful example. Our Elders are Ray Barger*, Les Glenn, Larry Hayes, Waddell Lee, David Nowlin and Billy Spears. These men and their wives are a great blessing to the Waverly church of Christ and to its Youth Ministry.

Youth Ministry Deacons

  
The Waverly church of Christ Youth Ministry is blessed to have two Youth Ministry Deacons, Tommy Hardin and Edward "Ederd" Toland. These men and their wives also serve as a wonderful example and are a great blessing to the Waverly church of Christ and to its Youth Ministry.

Youth Minister

   

Chris Dishman is the Associate & Youth Minister as well as the Educational Director here at the Waverly Church of Christ. Chris came to the Waverly Church of Christ in July of 2004 from Humboldt, Tennessee, where he was the Youth Minister at the Humboldt Church of Christ from August, 2000-July, 2004. Chris is a May 2001 Graduate from Freed-Hardeman University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible. Chris has many years of experience in Pulpit and Youth Ministry. Chris preached on a part-time basis for congregations in Broadmoor, Bogota, Trimble, and Gates, Tennessee, while in High School. He also worked as part-time and full-time Minister for the Wardell Church of Christ in Wardell, Missouri, while attending college at Freed Hardeman. Chris has also served as a Youth Ministry intern for the Troy Church of Christ (Troy, TN)as well as the West Dyersburg Church of Christ (Dyersburg, TN).. In addition, Chris has participated in and/or coordinated Mission Trips to Waldorf, Maryland, Holly Hills, Florida, Parkersburg, West Virginia, Wardell, Missouri, and four trips to the Inner-City Youth Spiritual Development Camp (2003-2007) in Chattanooga, TN. Chris also has three years of Summer Youth Camp direction experience and has spoken and led singing at various youth events and spoken at various civic functions. 


In his spare time, Chris enjoys fatherhood, family and playing golf. Chris has also worked in media relations with various professional baseball organizations and has created a nationally recognized website, http://www.ripkenintheminors.com.
 Chris also believes in giving back to the community. You can hear him on Friday nights in the fall announcing the High School football games at Waverly Central High School and on Thursday nights announcing the Waverly Junior High School football games with Jason Brazzle. Chris also announces for the WCHS Softball team, WJHS Volleyball team and can be found at Civitan meetings and coaching youth ball.


Chris and Chasity Dawn Presley married on December 16, 2000, in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Chasity is an outstanding assistant with the Youth Ministry Program and a wonderful addition to the congregation. Chasity is a 3rd Grade Teacher at Waverly Elementary School. Chris and Chasity have one daughter, Presley Faith Dishman, who was born on June 25, 2006.
